"TIME DECOMPOSING"
a decomposing time capsule
A non linear audiovisual collage based look at the present and past
background of Allans Walk and the Beehive/Mining Exchange Building which
it is part of. Looking at the history of the building's uses becomes
a process of looking at the wider context of lifestyles and culture
present and past.
This project takes a view of history as an abitrary process of selection. A construction of fragments of points in time represented by objects, images and sound layered over time. An "audiovisual concrete`" constructed through digital processing and animation of objects images and sound. A rubble like time capsule for the viewer to sift through, or metaphorically trample over. A history that deals with different periods of time non sequentially and simultaneously and which elevates supposedly inconsequential details to the same importance as accepted historical milestones.
